Here’s a cartoon I originally did for a charity auction for the Winston-Salem Arts-Based Elementary School. The first version of this was executed live in an hour (although I “cheated” a bit and did a lot of the pencilling beforehand) then immediately auctioned off. This version is a commissioned re-creation of that. It chronicles the lives of three people who attend the school using a sort of Chris Ware-style diagram/comic…except instead of being depressing and maudlin it’s goofy and cutesy. (Now, where’s my copy of Kochalka’s Cute Manifesto?)

Ben,
This is the greatest thing you’ve ever drawn.
I realize it’s Ware influenced but the execution is brilliant.
I love it.
