I’m not sure why I’m so preoccupied with this Count of Monte Cristo thing–especially since I have about a million other things I should be working on–but I’ve been sketching some possible character designs for other folks from the book. The top two rows here are possible Fernand Mondego (also known as the Count de Morcerf) characters, young and old– and at the bottom, Baron Danglars.

It’s really interesting to see you do young and old versions of the same character.
Absolutely amazing work all around. I am a Junior High English Teacher, and several of my students have read and are reading The Count of Monte Cristo at my request. Very beautiful and amazing work all around, and I would love to see more.

Thanks, Kerry! Count of Monte Cristo is one of my favorite books of all time, so I’m hoping I can get a “go” from some publisher to do a graphic novel adaptation. You can see a five page sample sequence here:

…and if you click on “The Count of Monte Cristo” in the “tags” area of my blog (upper right corner) you can see a few more character designs and whatnot.
