When people discuss the fundamentals of comics-making they most often discuss narrative, panel-to-panel action, storytelling, etc., but there is something to be said for really hunkering down and digging into one image for a while. For us comics folk, that usually comes in the form of a “splash page.” Here’s one I just wrapped up penciling from a book I’m (very slowly) working on called Oyster War:
