Despite my German family roots, I have to say this new German Pope really bites. Like many Americans, I was really rooting for a Pope from the New World….Like Father Guido Sarducci from the old SNLs, or at the very least a Latino Pope so I could make a lot of offensive ethnic jokes about what modifications he might make to the Pope-mobile.

Here’s the first page of a 16 page book I’m putting together with Chris Reilly and Steve Ahlquist. The book’s called Goggles and Gloves and will be debuting at this year’s Small Press Expo–God willing and if the creek don’t rise, as they say.
