Despite my German family roots, I have to say this new German Pope really bites. Like many Americans, I was really rooting for a Pope from the New World….Like Father Guido Sarducci from the old SNLs, or at the very least a Latino Pope so I could make a lot of offensive ethnic jokes about what modifications he might make to the Pope-mobile.
