I always make sure to have a “couch project” going at all times. A couch project is some drawing project that can be done in small time periods with just pens and pencils–something that I can work on a little at a time each evening in the twenty or so minutes I spend relaxing on the couch before I go to bed. At the moment I’m working on something inspired by Lynda Barry’s book One! Hundred! Demons!; I’ve bought a little moleskine tablet and I’m trying to fill it with 100 monsters/demons. Using an online random word generator, I’ve generated a list of about 300 made-up demon/monster names and I pick one each night to illustrate. I’ve done maybe about 70 at this point and here’s two:

At some point–maybe when I’m finished–I’ll scan them all and post them. No doubt, I’ll make a minicomic out of the completed project.
