I sent my friend James Sturm the “how to draw hobos” page below and inquired as to whether the cartooning school he’s founded in Vermont, the Center for Cartoon Studies, would be addressing the topic of how to draw hobos.
He replied that the school will have “several classes dedicated to the hobo,” and included this hobo image as well. Thanks, James!

Why don’t modern “how to” books on comics and cartooing include information like this?

The New York Public Library has put its entire collection of images, most of them in the public domain, online. What an amazing resource—I know where I’m going first for photo reference from now on.

Here’s recent progress on the studio/laundry-room project. All the wood panelling and ceiling tiles have been removed, revealing the dilapidated plaster beneath.
