Davidson College in the US News top 10 (again)
My alma mater, Davidson College, has once again ranked in the US News top liberal arts colleges list. I’m sure glad Davidson wasn’t this well respected when I was looking around for colleges or I certainly would have never have gotten in.
I’ll have to be sure to taunt my sister, who’s just started her freshman year at Vassar–ranked a lowly 13 on the list.

Supersize Me!
In the South, a man is often judged by the size of his back yard grill. Well, my days of hiding my diminutive Webber “Smoky Joe” grill (purchased for use on our balcony in Savannah, GA) are over! Feast your eyes on this full-sized Webber grill in action:
An aside: for those of you up North, please note that this is a grill and what’s going on in this picture is grilling. Barbecuing involves a slow-cooking a pig and a Barbecue is the event at which said pig is served.

MARVEL MONSTERS FIN FANG FOUR
I rarely find any comics published by Marvel or DC that I’m interested in enough to buy, but I took note of—and immediately ordered—this item being solicited for October release:
Written by ROGER LANGRIDGE & MICK GRAY Penciled by ROGER LANGRIDGE Cover by ERIC POWELL Four giant monsters – incarcerated for years for their crimes against humanity – now find themselves shrunk to human size and working at the home of the very people who captured them: the Fantastic Four! Meet Googam, Son of Goom (and the Baxter Building’s parking lot attendant), Elektro (the robot with a forbidden love), Gorgilla (expert window-washer) and Fin Fang Foom (head chef at a classy Chinese restaurant)! But when Goom’s mad plan to rescue his father goes awry, the quartet must put aside their differences and become – the Fin Fang Four! Join Eisner and Harvey Award nominee Roger Langridge (Fred the Clown, Knuckles the Malevolent Nun) in this wild romp through the Marvel Universe! Plus: Witness the first appearance of Fin Fang Foom in a classic story by Jack Kirby and Dick Ayers from Strange Tales #89, October 1961!
