Heroes Con 07 – Get Yer’ Hotel Rooms Now!

If’n you’re coming from out of town to Heroes Con ’07 in Charlotte, book your room now.  A Heroes newsletter went out on Friday with a link to reserve a room at the host hotel, the Westin, at the low “con rate” price of $89.00/night.  I waited until today to reserve a room, and they’re already out of rooms with king beds. It ain’t exactly like the usual San Diego hotel crunch, but rooms went pretty quickly last year…

  1. Last year, I had not booked a room because I was going to stay with a friend, but then his mother-in-law went to hospital. I was able to get a room pretty easily at the Hampton on the other side of the convention center at $89 a night. I also enjoyed my stay there more than I did when I was at the Westin in 2005. Paying for parking and to use the pool is not something that I would expect from a hotel like the Westin.

Truth be told, I’m kinda hoping that the Westin will sell out pretty quick and they’ll get a “con rate” going for the Hilton. If I’m going to stay at a fancy-schmancy hotel in downtown Charlotte (or is it “uptown” again–I’m never sure) I’d just as soon stay in the one that’s hooked on to the convention center. And the Hilton bar was clearly the post-con hang out locale of choice last year…

Paying for parking sucks. I got a ride down with some folks last year, and hopefully will avoid having a car this year. Given what these places charge for parking, it’d actually be cheaper to take the train.

  2. It may have been the Hilton (Hampton, Hilton – all the same company) I know it was the same hotel that Warren Ellis spoke at that night.
