Despite my best efforts to keep my cat, Gimli, out of the infrastructure of the house while the upstairs room is being worked on, he defeats me at every turn. Here he’s managed to get into the framing of the attic and is walking along the now-exposed ceiling joists. I’m guessing he must have gotten up there by jumping from on top of the giant heap of insulation that’s in the room waiting to be installed after the ceiling.

Project: Adodo pt. 2
I received an email update from Luca, one of the editors of the upcoming Italian literary magazine Adodo, to which I contributed a piece of artwork. Here’s what he had to say:
“Adodo is in Italian, and contains mostly literature, but we cared a lot about the visuals. There’s a story from James Kochalka, titled ‘Rootbeeer. ‘ There’s a story without words by Ivan Brunetti. There are three drawings of Peter Kuper. Three drawings of William Schaff. A few illustrations by Carrie McNinch. Six strips from the City by Derf. And other drawings and illustrations by Italian artists. And of course, your illustration…”
He included an image of the cover below, drawn by Paul Hornschemeier.

Crackhouse: odds and ends
The demolition work in the soon-to-be studio/workroom upstairs has resulted in a thin layer of sooty dust throughout most of the house. An interesting side effect of this has been that the dust gets on the cat’s paws as he roams around the house and leaves little cat paw prints showing places that he’s visited. It’s been a revelatory experience—apparently whilst we sleep, he ranges far and wide throughout the house. Here’s the most surprizing bit of evidence so far. Apparently the cat spends some portion of the evening in the toilet:
…and here’s a setup I’ve devised to keep the steady drizzle of plaster bits off of me (and my coffee) as I work during the day:

I wonder if, before the bust, this store saw a dramatic increase in sales of Gilbert Shelton, Robert Crumb and Jim Woodring comics?
