Come one, come all! This Saturday at Heroes Con 2013, Craig Fischer and I will be putting on one of our annual “mega-panels.” In this case, it’s a mega music<\/strong> panel, featuring a live band; panel discussion with Peter Bagge, Ed Piskor, and the guys behind the upcoming graphic novel,\u00a0The Fifth Beatle<\/em>; and music\/comics presentations from both Craig and me. It’s Saturday at 3:00 PM in Room 209\/210<\/strong>. Here’s the full skinny:<\/p>\n

MEGA MUSIC PANEL:\u00a0<\/strong>\u201cAnd Brainiac on Xylophone\u201d: On the Intersection(s) of Comics and Music<\/strong>\u00a0<\/strong>
\nComics and music share a lot of affinities\u2014both depend heavily on rhythm and intervals, and many cartoonists are also musicians\u2014and cartoonist\u00a0Ben Towle\u00a0<\/strong>and blogger\u00a0Craig Fischer<\/strong>\u00a0have organized a diverse smorgasbord of a panel to explore these affinities. Ben will discuss the many ways cartoonists represent music visually, and will chair a wide-ranging panel on comics and music with\u00a0Peter Bagge<\/strong>\u00a0(Hate<\/em>,\u00a0Yeah!<\/em>),\u00a0Ed Piskor<\/strong>\u00a0(Hip-Hop Family Tree<\/em>),\u00a0Andrew Robinson<\/strong>\u00a0and\u00a0Vivek J. Tiwary<\/strong>\u00a0(The Fifth Beatle<\/em>). Craig will talk about the work of\u00a0Marc Weidenbaum<\/strong>, an editor, teacher and musician who\u2019s been combining comics and music in his creative projects for over two decades. And Charlotte avant-duo\u00a0Ghost Trees<\/strong>\u00a0(Brent Bagwell on saxophone, Seth Nanaa on drums) will participate in two live comics\/music performances, including a soundtrack for\u00a0Joe Lambert\u2019s\u00a0<\/strong>\u201cTurtle, Keep It Steady,\u201d a rock-n-roll retelling of the Tortoise-Hare fable!<\/p><\/blockquote>\n
