{"id":2551,"date":"2010-11-29T15:47:38","date_gmt":"2010-11-29T19:47:38","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.benzilla.com\/?p=2551"},"modified":"2010-11-29T15:48:42","modified_gmt":"2010-11-29T19:48:42","slug":"in-memorium-irvin-kershner-empire-drawings","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.benzilla.com\/?p=2551","title":{"rendered":"In Memoriam: Irvin Kershner &#8211; Empire Drawings"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>I&#8217;m sure I&#8217;ve posted some or all of these childhood drawings of mine before, but with the recent death of <em>Empire Strikes Back<\/em> director Irvin Kershner, I thought it&#8217;d be appropriate to drag them out again. While there may be one or two folks out there who&#8217;d debate <em>Empire<\/em>&#8216;s status as the best of the <em>Star Wars<\/em> films, there&#8217;s no doubt that it&#8217;s the one that most profoundly affected me. It came out in 1980, when I was ten and starting to really get into drawing. These drawings were likely done from <em>The Empire Strikes Back Storybook<\/em>, although I remember when I was a bit older getting a copy of <em>The Art of The Empire Strikes Back<\/em> and devoting myself to memorizing exactly how to draw AT-ATs, Hoth gun turrets, etc.<a href=\"http:\/\/www.benzilla.com\/uploads\/2010\/11\/gallery_01.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\"
