Where&#8217;s the hoopla for <em>The Art of Osamu Tezuka: God of Manga<\/em>?!<\/p>\n<p>It officially came out yesterday and I had mine <a href=\"http:\/\/www.amazon.com\/Art-Osamu-Tezuka-God-Manga\/dp\/1905814666\/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&amp;s=books&amp;qid=1256062195&amp;sr=1-1\" target=\"_blank\">pre-ordered<\/a>, so it arrived on my doorstep today.\u00a0 (Curiously, Amazon appears to be out of them already.)\u00a0 It&#8217;s a truly beautiful book.\u00a0 I&#8217;ve not really even looked at the the interior yet, but here are a few pics of the exterior:<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><a title=\"tezuka_01\" href=\"http:\/\/www.benzilla.com\/uploads\/2009\/10\/tezuka_01.jpg\" target=\"_blank\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"attachment wp-att-1840 centered\" src=\"http:\/\/www.benzilla.com\/uploads\/2009\/10\/tezuka_01.thumbnail.jpg\" alt=\"tezuka_01\" width=\"231\" height=\"300\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>As you can see, it comes with a plastic dust jacket.\u00a0 The title is actually printed on the dust jacket iteself, so if you remove it, it&#8217;s just Astro Boy on the cover.\u00a0 It&#8217;s hard to see from the picture, but  Astro Boy there is actually a raised eighth-inch thick die cut piece of board that&#8217;s attached to the cover.\u00a0 (I&#8217;ve got to figure out a way to git rid of that DVD sticker thing, though.)<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><a title=\"tezuka_02\" href=\"http:\/\/www.benzilla.com\/uploads\/2009\/10\/tezuka_02.jpg\" target=\"_blank\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"attachment wp-att-1841 centered\" src=\"http:\/\/www.benzilla.com\/uploads\/2009\/10\/tezuka_02.thumbnail.jpg\" alt=\"tezuka_02\" width=\"223\" height=\"300\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>As you can see, it does indeed come with a DVD documentary about Tezuka, apparently made just to go along with the book.\u00a0 It&#8217;s mounted into the back cover.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><a title=\"tezuka_03\" href=\"http:\/\/www.benzilla.com\/uploads\/2009\/10\/tezuka_03.jpg\" target=\"_blank\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"attachment wp-att-1842 centered\" src=\"http:\/\/www.benzilla.com\/uploads\/2009\/10\/tezuka_03.thumbnail.jpg\" alt=\"tezuka_03\" width=\"300\" height=\"298\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>&#8230; And here&#8217;s how you get at the DVD: the inside back cover.\u00a0 I dig those endpapers.\u00a0 They&#8217;re schematic diagrams of Astro Boy.<\/p>\n<p>Thanks inlaws-who-gave-me-an-Amazon-gift-code-for-my-birthday!<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Crumb this&#8230; Genesis that&#8230; Yadda, yadda, yadda&#8230;.
