Count of Monte Cristo 5-Page Sample – Complete

Well, here it is: the five finished pages of The Count of Monte Cristo I’ve been tinkering with on and off for a bit.  If this ever became a real Count of Monte Cristo graphic novel project, I’d likely hand-letter it (or at least get a font made of my hand lettering) but for purposes …

Count of Monte Cristo: Finished Inks

These sample pages for The Count of Monte Cristo are still coming along, albeit somewhat slowly.  One thing I really like about small projects like this five-pager is that they give me the opportunity to try out new process tricks that I’d not really be willing to commit to for a bigger project without some …

Count of Monte Cristo – Pencil Roughs

I’ve had a bit of time to move ahead on these Count of Monte Cristo pages I’ve been working on just for fun.  I took my very rough thumbnails from the last iteration of this project and turned them all into 15% cyan blue via threshold –> fill in Photoshop, then I work over those …

Count of Monte Cristo – Lettered Thumbs

Count of Monte Cristo – Thumbnails

Just for fun, I thought I’d drum up maybe five pages or so of my imagined graphic novel adaptation of The Count of Monte Cristo.  This obviously isn’t a “front burner” project for me at the moment, but I’ll post progress on these pages as I work on them with an eye toward discussing process.  …

Sketchbook 10/18

I’m not sure why I’m so preoccupied with this Count of Monte Cristo thing–especially since I have about a million other things I should be working on–but I’ve been sketching some possible character designs for other folks from the book.  The top two rows here are possible Fernand Mondego (also known as the Count de …

Sketchbook 10/13

I’m still tinkering around trying to come up with some crewmen/women both for the pirates and for the oyster navy vessel from Oyster War: I’m thinking that these folks might work well in a possible Count of Monte Cristo GN as well.

Sketchbook 10/4

I just finished reading The Count of Monte Cristo and, being obsessed with all things comics, it occurred to me that it’d make for a great comics adaptation.  As far as I can tell, no one has attempted this to date–although Alan Moore’s V for Vendetta and to a lesser extent Garon Tsuchiya’s Manga Oldboy …
